We analysed every São Paulo event Dizko's public API returned for the 45 days from 2026-08-17: 808 listings across 166 venues. Saturday carries 31% of the calendar and Monday carries 3%, a 10.9x difference. The median published ticket is R$20. Here is the whole picture, and what it is worth to you whether you are choosing a night out or programming one.
Which night is São Paulo actually out?
Saturday is the busiest night in the index with 250 events. Monday is the quietest with 23. Friday and Saturday together hold 51% of everything scheduled, which leaves the rest of the week carrying the remainder across five nights.
| Night | Events scheduled | Share of the calendar | Relative to the busiest night |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 23 | 3% | 9 |
| Tuesday | 81 | 10% | 32 |
| Wednesday | 84 | 10% | 34 |
| Thursday | 118 | 15% | 47 |
| Friday | 159 | 20% | 64 |
| Saturday | 250 | 31% | 100 |
| Sunday | 93 | 12% | 37 |
If you are going out: Saturday gives you the most to choose from and the most competition for tickets, tables and taxis. If you want a room that is busy without being difficult, the middle of this table is where the city is genuinely alive and nothing sells out by Wednesday.
If you are putting something on: Saturday is the most contested slot in São Paulo and the hardest to book. Monday has 3% of the calendar, which is why it is the night venues negotiate on. A midweek residency in a room you can fill beats a Saturday you cannot. How venue deals work.
What time does it start?
The commonest start time in São Paulo is 19:00 local, and 16% of listed events start at 22:00 or later. That second number is the one that separates a city's nightlife from its cultural calendar: exhibitions, theatre, talks and family programming all sit in the early evening, while club nights push into the small hours.
What does it cost?
Of the 808 events analysed, 261 are free to attend, which is 32% of the calendar. 30% publish a price at all. Among those that do, the distribution looks like this.
| Where it sits | Advertised entry price | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest quarter | R$10 or less | Small rooms, early slots, and community programming. |
| Median | R$20 | Half of priced events in São Paulo cost this or less. |
| Upper quarter | R$35 and up | Booked headliners, larger capacities, and weekend peaks. |
| Top tenth | R$60 and up | The expensive end of the published calendar. |
If you are going out: R$20 is the honest middle of São Paulo. Anything under R$10 is the cheap quarter of the city, and there are 261 free events in this window if you want to spend nothing at all.
If you are putting something on: price against this table rather than against your costs. A ticket well above R$35 from a promoter nobody has heard of is asking for trust you have not earned, and one below R$10 signals something is off. The pricing guide works through the tiers.
What kind of events are these?
The labels that appear most across São Paulo listings in this window:
- Live music, 201 events
- Workshop, 151 events
- Art, 98 events
- +, 59 events
- Theatre, 58 events
- Talk, 46 events
- Lecture, 42 events
- Sessão, 35 events
Labels overlap, so these do not sum to the total. What the ranking tells you is where the city's supply is concentrated, and by implication where it is thin. A genre near the bottom of a big city's list is either underserved or badly served, and both are openings.
Which venues are programming the most?
166 distinct venues appear in this window. These ten carry the most:
| Venue | Events in the window |
|---|---|
| IMS Paulista | 65 |
| Sesc Consolação | 62 |
| Sesc Vila Mariana | 40 |
| Sesc Pompeia | 31 |
| Sesc 24 de Maio | 29 |
| Teatro Renault | 25 |
| Teatro Santander | 24 |
| Sesc Belenzinho | 23 |
| Sesc Itaquera | 22 |
| MIS-SP (Museu da Imagem e do Som) | 21 |
If you are going out: these are the rooms with something on almost any night, which makes them the safe answer when a plan collapses. Browse them on the São Paulo map.
If you are putting something on: a venue programming this heavily has a booker, a system and a calendar with gaps in it. That is a much better first email than a room that hosts one thing a month. The venue guide covers how to approach them.
The listings themselves are half-finished
20% of São Paulo listings in this window name the artists in a structured lineup field, and 30% publish a price. Everything else leaves that information inside a flyer image or omits it.
For someone looking for a night out, that is why searching by artist or filtering by price is frustrating: most of the calendar is invisible to both. For an organizer it is free ground. Filling in the lineup, the genre and the price puts you into artist pages, genre browse and price filters that most of your competition has opted out of. What to put in a listing.
How these numbers were produced
Every figure on this page is a count over real listings, not an estimate or a model. We paginated Dizko's public API for São Paulo and analysed the 808 events it returned for the 45 days from 2026-08-17 to 2026-10-01, captured on 2026-08-17. Weekday and start hour are computed in São Paulo local time, and an event starting before 05:00 is counted as belonging to the night before, the way anyone who runs one would describe it.
The limits matter as much as the numbers:
- This measures Dizko's coverage of São Paulo, not every event in the city. The API reported 1,157 indexed events over a longer horizon than the window analysed here.
- Prices are the advertised minimum where a source publishes one. 30% of listings in this window carry a published price, so the price table describes those and not the rest.
- An event can carry several type and genre labels, so those counts overlap.
- It is a forward window of what is scheduled, and listings change.
The full dataset for all cities is published as JSON. Rebuild it with node scripts/build-infohub-data.mjs.
