Copyright and DMCA

Effective: September 4, 2026

Dizko respects the intellectual property of others and expects the people who use it to do the same. This page explains how to tell us about material on Dizko that you believe infringes your copyright, what we do when we receive a notice, and how someone whose content was removed can respond.

Dizko is operated from the United States, so the process below follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Two kinds of material can appear on Dizko. Some is submitted by people who use the app: profile photos, avatars, event flyers, uploaded images, list and page content, and messages. Some is event information collected from public third-party listings and venue sources, which remain responsible for their own listings. Notices about either kind reach us through the same channel below.

Designated Copyright Agent

Send copyright notices, counter-notices, and any question about this page to:

Copyright notices

Email: legal@dizko.app

Designation pending: our agent's postal address and telephone number will be published here once the designation is filed with the United States Copyright Office. Until then, the section 512(c) safe harbour is not available to us, and notices reach us at the address above.

Email is the fastest route and the one we monitor. Notices sent to support, privacy, or any other Dizko address may be delayed while they are forwarded to the agent.

Sending a Copyright Notice

To be effective under section 512(c)(3) of the U.S. Copyright Act, a notice must be a written communication that includes all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If several works on Dizko are covered by one notice, a representative list of those works.
  3. Identification of the material you claim is infringing and want removed, with enough detail for us to find it. A direct Dizko link, the username, and the event or page title are the fastest way to do this.
  4. Your contact information: name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

A notice missing these elements may not be actionable, and we may ask you for the missing parts before we can act.

What Happens Next

We read every report and aim to answer within five working days, sooner where something is clearly unlawful. A person, not an automated system, decides whether material comes down, and we say which ground we acted on and how to disagree with it.

Counter-Notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the agent above. Under section 512(g)(3) it must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal district court for the district where you live, or, if you are outside the United States, of any district in which Dizko may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

We forward valid counter-notices to the person who sent the original notice. If they do not tell us within ten business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the activity, we may restore the material within ten to fourteen business days of receiving the counter-notice.

Repeat Infringers

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright. Each valid notice we act on is recorded against the account that posted the material. Counter-notices that lead to material being restored, and notices later withdrawn by the sender, are not counted.

We do not run a fixed count: three notices for three stolen photographs and three notices from one claimant over a single dispute are not the same thing. Accounts that accumulate repeat infringement may have uploads restricted, content removed, or the account closed, and we may act sooner where the infringement is severe or clearly deliberate.

Misrepresentation

Under section 512(f), anyone who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please make sure the use you are reporting is not covered by fair use, a licence, or another authorisation before you send a notice.

If You Are Outside the United States

This is the channel for copyright complaints wherever you are, and you do not need to be in the US to use it. If you are raising a complaint under your own country's rules rather than the DMCA, send it to the same address and say so, and we will handle it under the process that applies. Nothing on this page limits rights you have under your local law.

Reporting from Inside the App

In the Dizko iPhone app you can report a profile or its content from the profile screen and choose "Copyright infringement" as the reason. That routes the report to the same moderation queue, and it is a good way to flag something quickly. A report submitted in the app is not a formal DMCA notice, because it does not carry the signature and sworn statements the law requires. To have material removed under the DMCA, send a complete notice to the agent above.

Changes

We may update this page. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
