The Cavern Club São Paulo
The Cavern Club São Paulo at Shopping Vila Olímpia on Monday 8pm, free entry. The Beatles tribute room replicates the Liverpool venue down to the brickwork and runs a rotating cast of Brazilian tribute bands across the week. The Monday programming tends to be looser and more conversational than the weekend sets. The shopping centre location is easier than it sounds, the bar runs late, the food is straightforward. Worth the trip if you want one of the more committed Beatles pilgrimage sites outside of Liverpool itself.
Projeto ‘Leitura Emancipa’ – Emicida Racional MCMV Tour
Emicida bringing the Leitura Emancipa tour to Fábrica de Cultura Vila Nova Cachoeirinha, Monday 8pm, free admission. The Racional MCMV stretch of the project pairs Emicida readings with live music in the kind of community cultural centre the Fábrica network was built for. Emicida has been the working Brazilian rapper-essayist of the last decade and the tour format moves between performance, lecture, and conversation across the night. In Portuguese. Free admission with first-come seating. Arrive early.
Espetáculo ‘Antes de Dormir’
Antes de Dormir at Sesc Ipiranga, Monday 8pm, free admission. The children and family theatre piece runs in one of the better Sesc rooms for this kind of programming, the layout flexible enough that the staging adjusts around the audience age. In Portuguese. The Ipiranga building has been steadily one of the better São Paulo Sesc units for family programming and the Monday evening slot pulls a more relaxed crowd than the weekend matinees. Suitable for younger children. Free tickets at the door.
